Course description:
We use computer programming with algorithmic design and robotics to engage students in hands-on learning of Math and Computer Science. Teaching mathematics with coding provides a unique learning experience for students. Our students learn to think with mathematical precision while interacting with fun programming concepts, puzzles, and challenges that stem from geometry, algebra, computer science and physics.

Level 1 is for beginners and students with some prior coding experience who need to strengthen their understanding and utilization of core programming concepts in their programs. Students learn how to create programs, including games and interactive stories, and how to effectively apply core coding concepts. Our class uses combined approach of on-line programming and hands on activities focused on building logical and computational thinking. They practice problem solving and learn how to debug their programs.

Our students learn to think with mathematical precision while interacting with fun programming concepts, puzzles, and challenges that stem from geometry, algebra, computer science and physics.

This also includes a digital citizen certification.
• Students will learn the importance of digital safety and how to protect their personal devices and information from outside threats.
• Encourages students to apply digital ethic principles in their online interactions.
• Helps students understand the widespread importance of digital security in their everyday lives and equip them with skills to better protect themselves on the Internet.

Graduation criteria:
Demonstrated understanding of
• Programming concepts: conditionals, loops, functions, and variables
• Art: use bitmap and graphics editors, build animations
• Scratch specific concepts: broadcasting, cloning
• Basic debugging techniques
Examples of projects students can build on their own:
• Interactive story telling
• Interactive two-sprite game
• Maze game
* Listed ages are recommended. Your child’s instructor will help you determine, if your student is ready for higher level at an earlier age.

But the real value of the course is not in learning the details of some programming language. Our students learn to think with mathematical precision while interacting with fun programming concepts, puzzles, and challenges that stem from geometry, algebra, computer science and physics.

Working through the self-paced projects designed by our Experts, your child will develop a talent for problem solving that overflows out of the classroom and into all aspects of his or her academic and professional careers.

This also includes a digital citizen certification.
